Pope Leo XIV, in his Angelus message on September 21, 2025, expressed deep concern for the suffering people of Gaza, calling for peace in the Holy Land. He praised Catholic associations working to help Gaza and emphasized that those who truly love the people there must work for peace, rejecting violence, exile, and revenge.

“Together with you and with the pastors of the Churches in the Holy Land, I repeat: there is no future based on violence, forced exile, or revenge. The people need peace; those who truly love them work for peace,” he said.

The Pope also reflected on the use of material goods, urging believers to recognize that everything, including life itself, is a gift from God. He referenced the Gospel of Luke’s parable about a steward who, realizing his mistakes, renounces his personal gain to secure friendships. Leo emphasized the responsibility to manage earthly resources and our lives responsibly, highlighting the importance of generosity, solidarity, and the common good.

Earlier, the Pope celebrated Mass at St. Anne’s Church in the Vatican, encouraging those who pass through the area to experience openness to prayer, listening, and charity. He called on believers to choose a lifestyle that prioritizes God over wealth, stressing that wealth should serve humanity, not dominate it. The Pope prayed for leaders to resist using wealth as a tool of oppression, urging that true freedom comes from serving God, not material wealth.
