Trump Says He Received A 'Nice' Letter From Biden
Biden wrote to Trump that he expects 'steadiness' at the White House.

In a tradition stretching back to the 1980s, former President Joseph Biden left a letter for his successor, President Donald Trump in presidential desk in the Oval Office.
The full contents of the letter:
“Dear President Trump, As I take leave of this sacred office I wish you and your family all the best in the next four years. The American people — and people around the world — look to this house for steadiness in the inevitable storms of history, and my prayer is that in the coming years will be a time of prosperity, peace, and grace for our nation.
May God bless you and guide you as He has blessed and guided our beloved country since our founding,” read the letter, obtained by Fox News.
It was signed, “Joe Biden 1-20-25.”
Photos taken at the White House recorded President Trump holding the letter left by his predecessor while signing multiple executive orders on Inauguration Day. Trump said that the note was “nice.”
In 1989, President Ronald Reagan started the ritual, according to The Washington Post, when he left a note for his former running mate, President George H.W. Bush. Reagan wrote: "Don’t let the turkeys get you down," an included a drawing of turkeys climbing on top of an elephant. Reagan added, "I treasure the memories we share and I wish you all the very best. You’ll be in my prayers. God bless you & Barbara. I’ll miss our Thursday lunches."
